Dr. Mark Labberton, Ph.D

Mark Labberton, Ph.D., was senior pastor at First Presbyterian Church of Berkeley for the past 16 years. He Has an M.Div. from Fuller Theological Seminary, and a doctorate in theology from the University of Cambridge, England. His Ph.D. dissertation topic was “Ordinary Bible Reading: The Reformed Tradition and Reader-Oriented Criticism.” He was study assistant to the Reverend John Stott, (1980-81). Mark is also visiting professor of Biblical Studies at New College Berkeley.  Mark is also the author of “The Dangerous Act of Worship” published by Intervarsity Press. This will be Mark’s second visit to WCPPC.

 

Evening Leadership Speaker

Dr. E. Stanley Ott, Ph.D

E. Stanley Ott is the President of the Vital Churches Institute and part-time teaching pastor at Vienna Presbyterian Church (VA).  His focus is on the particular ministry of leadership development.  He also conducts regular classes and training seminars designed to help our staff and lay leaders understand how to conduct effective ministry in the 21st century.  He developed the Vital Churches Institute, through which he trains pastors and church leaders all over the country.  Stan’s education includes degrees from Georgia Tech, Purdue University, and McCormick Theological Seminary.  His Ph.D. is from Purdue.  He is the author of (to name a few) “Twelve Dynamic Shifts for Transforming Your Church” and “Transform Your Church with Ministry Teams” both published by Eerdmans, as well as “The Joy of Discipling: Friend with Friend and Heart with Heart” published by Zondervan.

Ted Vaughn

Contemporary Worship Leader

Ted Vaughn was Contemporary Worship Arts Director at Solana Beach Presbyterian Church for nine years.   He played a major role in the development of new worship cultures, community outreach through music and art, and is a pioneer in the bridging of missional-church themes with corporate worship.  He has been a worship leader since college, mentored in music and worship by Fernando Ortega, and has led in churches and conferences throughout Southern California.  Most recently Ted led worship for the Presbyterian Global Fellowship Conference in Long Beach, CA. This will be Ted’s first visit to WCPPC.
